Just a trivial question, but does anyone know the first car that GM had produced after the bailout? Either redesigned or produced, if it was a new model. Thanks.
Have a Pontiac G8 GXP.

I don't know but the Camaro and volt came about within a year to a year and a half of the bailout for Chevy.

That's what I was thinking too. I was thinking that there may of been a hiatus?

I aways felt that the Cruze was the first true GM car to come post bailout.

Those were in development long before the bailout though.

It was in production in other countries as early as 2008 I think.

I wanna say the updated Theta twins (Equinox and Terrain)
They came out in late 2010 I think.

This may be it.. The Malibu was pre-bailout I think.

The generation of Malibu that was out when GM went bankrupt had came out in '08.

Not really, it's actually been around since 2008.

Looking through the lineups of the GM brands around the bailout period and after, I think the best candidates, as far as US market models go, are the second gen Theta crossovers (Equinox/Terrain) or the Theta Premium crossovers (SRX/9-4X), although the 9-4X probably doesn't count since it was so short lived.

Officially? GM likes to think the Cruze was , as it was pretty much the first new model introduced under "New GM", even though the Cruze had been around since 2008 in other countries.
But the first NEW designed model? Most likely the Sonic. Under Old GM it was called the "Aveo RS". Boy did they change that quickly.

Defer to all the Detroitheads, but man I'm still a little sad about the death of Pontiac. They were just hitting their stride. The Gs, the Solstice, whatever may [have] come.

Volt? First hit the market in '11.

Weren't both those cars done mostly by Daewoo? I'm not sure if that matters or not for the question though.

You have that right! GMDAT (Daewoo) seems to handle the design and engineering for GM's compact and economy cars.
Though, Daewoo's designs under "New GM" are considered globally designed platforms.

Yes it was, but GM's goal was to be a more polished company and the Cruze, though released in 2008 has shown that. I actually drove one back in '08 and recently had the chance to drive a 2014 model and I have to say, it's still holding up very well.

I agree! I'm in love with the G8. I loved their styling and designs, and they were truly a nice alternative to Chevrolet or Saturn. Making me sad here. :(
